Virtual Japanese Manuscript Paper

An experiment created entirely with CSS without the use of images or JavaScript.

Feel free to edit the text!

In order for this to work:

• you need a fairly new browser,
• the font used must render input as full width/height for them to line up to the grid, and
• your browser must render full width characters using the "1em" metric and correctly interpret the baseline.

You can try a different font you have if characters don't appear to your liking.

Why not print out a blank copy of this page with 20 columns for handwriting practice? (Note that you may need to enable "background colour/image" printing for the grid to show.)
